Rails Bundle execution problem resolved

In this post I am sharing my simple trick that is used to encounter the bundle execution problem when creating an application with rails with ruby.

When creating new application with rails I ended with successful creation of files using the rails generator but during the execution of bundle process, a rail prompt made me to wait and finally showed an error/Message like

Fetching source index for https://rubygems.org/

Could not reach rubygems repository https://rubygems.org/

Could not find gem ‘jquery-rails (>= 0) x86-mingw32’ in any of the gem sources listed in your Gemfile.

As a beginner with rails I thought the error is due to version conflict between ruby and rails or even with gem; but it isn’t the fact, most of the document out there in forums and discussions have described their own way to encounter this error in which few may work and few may take you to some other errors.  Interestingly some documents that I have gone though asked me to skip the bundle execution at the time of creating application. Even though this seems to work, this is a temporary solution and not advisable to follow for an application development.  At same time when investigating about the issue I came to see that 70 to 80 percent of rails developers have the same bundle problem and still struggle for solution that would resolve the trouble. So here is my own solution to difficulty that will bail you from the frustrations that I had earlier. And it is very joyful to say that trick work well on windows, Linux and max machine also.

The error mean to say that working computer is not allowed fetching file from http://rubygems.org/ repository. So configuring proxy setting will help you to encounter this problem.

One way that I figured out to solve this issue is adjusting the proxy setting of internet connection with Firefox browser.

Open your Firefox and go to

option — Network tap — Click setting button on Connection panel

Then enter the following host name and ip address in No proxy for field.

No proxy for: localhost, 127.0.0.1,http://rubygems.org/

Click ok

Now go to rails command prompt and create new rails application.

It may take few seconds or minutes to complete the run bundle execution so be patient till finishes.
